Free Traffic With Search Engine Optimization

Of all of the different types of traffic that you can get your website, free traffic has got to be the most enjoyable. Knowing that you’re getting people from all over the world who are interested in what you have to offer can be a real rush, especially when you don’t have to pay a penny in order to achieve it. Not only that, many of the free methods of getting traffic to your website produce some very targeted visitors. This can not only help your hit counter to spin, it can increase your bottom line by a considerable amount.

Of all of the different ways to get free traffic to your website, one of the most consistent and most targeted is through search engine optimization. This is a process that has been around ever since the search engines came into existence. In a nutshell, it is optimizing your webpage through a variety of different methods in order to rank high in the search engine results for specific keywords. Some of these keywords are searched for thousands of times every day and if you’re able to be at the top of the search engine results, the traffic that you get can be quite overwhelming. There are several things that you need to know, however, before you begin on any good search engine marketing campaign.

First of all, you need to make sure that you are being realistic in your expectations. You should never expect that you will be able to rank well for one or two word phrases that are extremely competitive in the search engine results. Trying to get to the top of the heap which includes well over 10 million results is going to be difficult, to say the least. It is much better if you try to find targeted keyword phrases that are less competitive in the search engines. Instead of going after that one big kill, go after five or 10 smaller ones. You will still receive the same amount of traffic but you will be spread out a little bit which will provide you with somewhat of a safety net.

Search engine optimization is also something that tends to change on a regular basis. For the most part, it has to do with on page and off page efforts. The on page optimization really consists of including the keyword phrase naturally throughout the webpage. You would probably also want to include it in meta title tag. The off page optimization has become much more important in recent years. For the most part, this includes getting links back to your website from a variety of different sources. Using the keyword phrase that you are targeting in the link text and getting links coming in to both your homepage and interior pages are all things that are going to help you to rank well in the search engines.

Although it gets much more complex than this, this is the basic way that search engine optimization works. As you start to see some success from your efforts, you will no doubt want to learn more about the intricacies that will help you to rank well for your keywords.

5 Search Engine Optimization Tips For Affiliates

Search engine optimization is really no different for an affiliate website than it is for a website where you sell your own products and services.

If you build a content website, search engine optimization is definitely a consideration because it can bring you lots of targeted traffic, and SEO isn’t really hard to do. Concentrate on the basics, and you’ll get plenty of targeted traffic from the search engines.

Here are five steps you can take to optimize your affiliate site for the search engines.

      1. Choose the right keywords.

Although it might seem pretty cool to get ranked really high for two word keyword phrases for a keyword search term, the traffic won’t be as targeted.

General keyword search terms won’t really help you reach those you are trying to reach. If you want to get the most out of your search engine optimization campaign, then use keywords with at least 3 to 4 words. These keywords are more targeted and will get you more targeted traffic.

      2. Build backlinks.

Backlinks are an easy way to raise your rankings in the search engines. The more backlinks you have pointing back to your site, the higher your site will rank.

Keep in mind though that the sites you link to must be relevant to your site. It’s OK to link to general directories. The most relevant links come from sites that complement yours.

For example: if you own a gardening site, and you’re trying to link to advertising sites, you’re wasting your time.

      3. Submit to major search engines.

There’s a lot of debate in the search engine community on whether or not you should submit to the major search engines: Google, Yahoo, and MSN, or just wait and let them find you.

It depends on whether or not you want to start getting your site indexed in hours or wait months to be found.

The key is to create a sitemap. Submit your sitemap to the major search engines, and they’ll start indexing your site. You still want to do the other techniques, like backlinks, but once you submit your sitemap, you really don’t have to worry about submitting again. Check to make sure your sitemap is error free. Google will tell you. If you have errors, fix them. After that, indexing is pretty automatic.

      4. Write content.

Content for an affiliate site is slightly different than for a site where you offer your own products. With an affiliate site, you not only want to write articles on your topic, you want to write product reviews.

Give honest reviews of the products you are offering. Show how they solve a problem. Give as much information as possible to help the buyer make a decision.

Other forms of content to consider are videos, audios, a blog, and a FAQ.

      5. Add dynamic content.

Dynamic content updates on your site automatically. Usually it is in the form of IFrames, Javascript or RSS Feeds.

If you want dynamic content that is search engine friendly though, stick with RSS feeds. Many content management systems now allow you to add the feeds, and these systems handle the display. If your website doesn’t handle feeds, there are plenty of free scripts available to display feeds for you.

Search engine optimization doesn’t have to be difficult. Stick to “White Hat” techniques (techniques the search engines accept), and you can rank well in the search engines. You’ll also get targeted traffic.

Search Engine Optimization – Getting Content Found by Your Target Market

You are not an expert at creating content, right? No problem. You can still optimize your results by knowing HOW to get the Search Engines to find you.

Simply creating a web of content and waiting for someone to notice you is similar to opening up a restaurant and not advertising. Doesn’t really matter how good your food is; without customers you’ll be out of business within a month. Same thing applies to internet attraction marketing. It does not always matter how good your content is, because good content is nothing without your targeted market seeing what you have to offer. Rather, it matters MORE to have content that people can find.

So how do you get people to find you?

Search Engine Optimization – make your content so search engine friendly, that prospects can’t help but find you when they are looking for what you are offering. Your content does not have to be perfect. We all started somewhere, right? Just make it filled with Keyword Value and good links.

        Keywords

Is your content keyword rich? In other words, what keywords are in your content that people may be looking for when they do a search. Some things to ask yourself:

        - What keywords are in my title tag? (A title tag is the wording that comes up at the very top of your page above your search bar when you pull up your site). Search engines look for this when they rank your content.

        - What keywords are in the content itself and how often are they being used? Place your

keywords or phrases throughout your article, blog, whatever it is you have created. It’s important to use the words that people will type in to find you on the search engines, but do not overuse them. Some Search Engines will actually ban you for doing this.

        - Where are my keywords placed throughout my content? Place them in the areas where the Search Engines look more often. Place more emphasis in the headlines, areas that are bolded or highlighted, italics, etc. Most Search Engines give these areas a higher priority.

. What is my main keyword focus? Pick one main word as your focus and then 2 or 3 other words. Place these words throughout your article and in the title with your focus being on 2 or 3 topics. Too many different keywords can confuse the Search Engines as they will not know the focus of your content.

        Linking

-Do you have linking between sites? The number of links within your content pointing to other sites and vice-versa, the better. You could create a blog and point it to an article you created in Ezine Articles. People like your content and link to it. Linking to sites with higher rankings like Ezine will help you move up higher in the search engine rankings. Make sure your links have keywords from your content and title in them. Once again, keywords are very important in how and where they are placed for Search Engine Optimization.

Pick words that are less competitive for the obvious reasons. The less people out there competing with you, the more likely your content will be found. But remember that less competitive does not mean less searched. Pick good “buzz” words; topics that are fresh and new and may not yet have a lot of competition but may have a high search rate. If you need help, a good and free resource is Good Keywords which can be downloaded in a matter of minutes and it is invaluable in searching for phrases and words that relate to your topic.

The most important thing to remember is always keep your content real. Do not litter it with phrases or words that make no sense or don’t fit into your message. Create a balance between value and search optimization. Too many misplaced words may hurt rather than help you. You always want to be providing real value to the audience, so do not be self-serving; give before you receive and reap the rewards that will come your way.

SEO Optimization doesn’t have to be difficult. You can learn how to do it and do it effectively.

Once you have mastered it, you will be amazed at the results.

Building Links And Including Keywords To Search Engine Optimize Your Site

Most people who own a website and use it for business know how important SEO or Search Engine Optimization is. Although optimizing your site is a complicated process, basically, you will be making your site easier for major search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN to index.

The better your optimization, the higher your site will rank in search engine results pages. So, when customers search a relevant key word or phrase, your site will be more likely to be displayed to them. Internet users rarely go past the first and second pages of search results, so optimization and higher ranking is very important. Here are some tips to make your site SEO friendly.

          Link Building

This isn’t something you can simply check off and forget about. Link building is very important to search engines as long as the links are relevant. You should always be on the lookout for ways to add links back to your site from all over the web. Generally, the more links you have going back to your site, the better your ranking will be.

There are a lot of theories about back links and whether one sided links to your site are more important than a link exchange, but as long as you make sure the site you’re linked to is relevant, you will improve ranking. Obviously, you don’t want to link to a competitive site. You want to link to a complimentary site.

          Key Words and Phrases –

When you’re trying to search engine optimize your site, key words and phrases are very important. If you don’t have a tool that will help you determine key words, simply think about which key words or phrases you would use if you were searching for your product. For instance, if you’re searching for weight loss supplements, you might enter ‘fat burning supplements’ or something similar.

You need to determine which words to use so that customers will find your site easily. Although algorithms are different for each search engine, the general rule is to either allow the keywords to fall into the content naturally or about once every 100 words. A bit more or less should work out fine, but try to avoid ‘keyword stuffing,’ or adding a keyword in your content at every single opportunity.

          Meta Descriptions –

When writing your meta descriptions, the general rule is to have a different one for each page. You should also be targeting different keywords and phrases for each page. This way, you will index for several different keywords and receive more traffic. If you can’t use different meta descriptions, simply leave them blank. Another thing you should do is create a different title for each page of your site, including your main keyword or phrase in the title.

There is much more to be covered on the topic of how to search engine optimize your site, which I will go into in-depth in ‘URLs, Original Content and How to Search Engine Optimize Your Site.’
